Biyangnol: beautiful scookies cafe in Jeju City

Jeju is not only famous for their seafood, but also for its numerous cafes. In recent years, the cafe craze has not only swept across the mainland but also this holiday hotspot.

With so many cafes to choose from, we found it a little difficult to choose which ones to visit. However, we shortlisted this one as soon as we saw the photos!

Biyangnol is located in Jeju City, a little way off from the airport. The reason for its not-very-accessible location is none other than the gorgeous views it offers. We were in awe of the sea view surrounding the cafe. We were also delighted by the amazing rustic interior!

The cafe was very thoughtful in setting up tables & chairs facing the beautiful sea. The weather that day was sunny, albeit with snow flurries. It made for a good view as we sat in front of the glass panels and watch the snow fly around in the sunlight!

We were very hungry (went here straight aftere landing at the airport) and ordered a few different items to share.

Our drinks were hot chocolate and latte, and those pastries you see on the plates are scookies! We got scookies in flavours such as matcha, chocolate chip, plain (butter), and peanut butter.

Biyangnol pays a lot of attention to the plating. We actually got a shock because we took a good look at the plates & utensils and realised these were all from luxury brands!

If you’re curious what scookies are, they are actually a cross between scones and cookies. They taste a lot like scones with the strong buttery taste, but is textured like cookies with a hint of a crunch. I was initially worried that we would tire of eating the scones but nope, they were really addictive!

I also really like that they also served butter and jam on the side – exactly how you would eat your scones. Personally, I enjoyed the plain butter and matcha flavours the most. But even if you’re not a big fan of these, they still have other flavours in store that you can check out!

The reason why Biyangnol is named as such is because you can see a small island called Biyangdo from the cafe. Unfortunately I took this photo when it was foggy and not so bright, but you can still see the island peak in the distance.

The beautiful thing about travelling in Jeju is that life slows down here. Service may be a tad slow, but you get to slowly savour your food & drinks while taking in the views. We stayed here for a couple of hours just chatting and enjoying the present moment, which was a welcome break from our hectic everyday lives.

Strongly recommend coming to Biyangnol for the views and the tasty & thoughtfully-made food! I know for sure I’ll certainly come back next time ~
