YG Entertainment Building: how to get there & what to see

,

YG is home to many of the biggest names in K-pop – Big Bang and considered to be one of the Big 3 (entertainment agencies). If you’re not aware, the other 2 names are JYP and SM Entertainment.

However, YG is located separately in Hongdae, while the other 2 can be found in the Gangnam area.

As with other entertainment companies, this building is not open to the public, but there’s no saying if you may get to see celebrities moving in and out of the celebrity vans parked there!

How to get to YG Entertainment Building

Address: 397-5 Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Line 2 Hapjeong Station (합정역) Exit 8

I was unable to get full photos and description of the way there from the station exit (because I was dying from the heat wave).

However, I referred to the following blog for directions, which managed to get me there.

Basically, you’ll be passing by 2 SK Oil Stations, which will be a key reference point for you to make sure that you’re on track.

After passing the 2nd SK oil station, you can use Google Maps to figure out which alley to turn into, as I had a bit of difficulty trying to figure this out from the blog link given above.

Also, remember to look out for the GS25 right opposite the YG building.

Frankly, there isn’t much to do here besides sightseeing and ‘visiting’.

If you are rushing for time and have a very packed itinerary, I would certainly not recommend going out of the way to visit the YG Entertainment Building.

If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of celebrities, your best bet would be to look out for a crowd of Korean fans around the building. They would most likely be well-informed of their idols’ schedules and camping at the building in advance.

Be warned though, there is no shelter nor seats nearby. You’ll most likely have to stand in the heat/cold/rain if you decide to wait!

About Me

Hi! I’m Tofu V from Singapore.

My love for Korea stemmed from a love of K-pop and K-dramas that started more than a decade ago. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Korea both as a tourist and a student. I’ve accumulated interesting experiences (mostly good, occasionally bad) along the way as I try my best to see as much of Korea as possible, and this blog is an accumulation of all that I’ve learned and tried.
