I’ve rented hanboks (Korea’s traditional costume) on almost every trip to Korea, be it for free entry to Gyeongbokgung Palace or just photo ops in Jeonju Hanok Village.
The palaces and hanok villages are typically flanked by lots of hanbok rental shops. You don’t have to fret about not being able to rent one – in fact, your worry would be WHERE to rent yours from!
I’ve rented from different shops over the years but didn’t have the best experience at all of them. Some of the hanboks are very old with fraying lace, or else had very unappealing designs.
However, I found my favourite hanbok rental shop in 2022 right at the entrance of Bukchon Hanok Village: Bukchon Hanbok!
I didn’t manage to take any photos inside, but I think I visited on a slow(er) day when there were no visitors. The staff were very friendly and patient, helping me to pick beautiful tops that would go with my blue ombre skirt:

The quality of the hanbok is honestly SO impressive. Very few rental shops have hanboks that boast this sheer, translucent material.
You can tell that it looks exquisite and not cheap at all!

I added on a bit more for hair-do, and they REALLY delivered.
Most other rental shops I’ve been to usually just haphazardly braid your hair and add in some clips. However, Bukchon Hanbok went the extra mile by pairing it with a silk ribbon that matched my hanbok.

I can’t remember exactly how much I paid for everything but it’s probably around 30k won for 2-hr rental, hair-do, and accessories.
2 hours gives you ample time to take lots of beautiful photos around Bukchon Hanok Village – and also hop over to Gyeongbokgung Palace!
