I’ve always wanted to visit Penang for all the amazing food it offers.
While I knew that I had to get my fill of assam laksa and char kway teow, I never knew about this breakfast place until a friend recommended it to me.
OO White Coffee Cafe has a few branches around Penang, including an air-conditioned one at a hotel.
We visited the OG store at Lebuh Carnarvon, which already sported long queues when we arrived. We ended up waiting for about 15-30 minutes. I can’t remember exactly how long, but I remember it was quite a wait!

What to order and eat at OO White Coffee Cafe
As the name suggests, OO White Coffee Cafe is very famous for white coffee.
I was a bit surprised that coffee in Penang is so highly-raved. I always thought that white coffee is typically associated with Ipoh, another city in Malaysia.
However, I understood what the reviews meant when I saw the coffee:

I enjoy ordering white coffee in Malaysia, and from Malaysian food chains. But I’ve never seen white coffee with such thick froth and foam!
It was thick, flavourful, with just the right amount of sweetness.
They also have an iced version of the white coffee if you can’t stand the heat in Penang. I didn’t enjoy it as much though because the ice melts and dilutes the drink. Get it hot!

Other than their famous white coffee, some other must-try dishes at OO White Coffee Cafe are their Egg on Toast, Signature Toast (Kaya & Butter), and Golden Beach Toast (Butter & Sugar).
We ordered these toasts to share and really liked their taste and texture. Crispy without being burnt or dry, and very addictive!
The best part? The food and drinks here at not overpriced. You can expect to pay about SGD 1 – 2 for each dish.
In comparison: toast sets in Singapore have smaller portions, yet they can burn a big hole in your wallet at around SGD 7-8.
I really miss this breakfast place in Penang and can’t wait to go back again. Hopefully prices and portions will still remain the same!
