Just as how no visitor to Jeju would leave before making a trip to Seongsan Ilchulbong Sunrise Peak, most would also make sure to visit Seopjikoji Coastal Walk.
This is a picturesque cape just south of Seongsan Ilchulbong, which is also a popular filming site for many Korean movies and dramas, such as “The Legend of Gingko,” “The Uprising,” “Cheonilya,” and “All In”.
Tip: It might be a little troublesome to travel to Seopjikoji if you’re not driving. Consider getting there by booking the following day tours with Klook:

What to do at Seopjikoji Coastal Walk
We thought it would be a good idea to burn off some of the calories we ate at Seogwipean Bakery by doing this walk, although we hadn’t anticipated that it would be so cloudy and windy.

The low-hanging clouds made for very nice photographs though!

What makes Seopjikoji different from other coasts in Jeju Island is that it is made of red volcanic ash called “scoria”. You can also see many unique rock formations that only show themselves when the tide is low.

Most of the walk was pretty easy, nothing too strenuous, except the struggle against the cold winds. It’s definitely a good idea to check out the weather forecast first before coming here. Best to make sure you won’t get snowed on!
After some struggling against the wind, we reached a hill with the white Bangdupo Lighthouse, where you can get even better views of the scenery.

The stairs leading upwards can be a challenge. They’re narrow and you feel pressured if there’s a long queue behind… but generally doable!

Other than just taking a relaxing walk along the Seopjikoji Coast, you can also opt to do horseback riding – hence all the horses along the way!

There are also a few cafes & restaurants littered around Seopjikoji. Do note that these tend to be very crowded as everyone wants to duck inside to hide from the blistering wind!
We also found a private art museum (Yumin Art Nouveau Collection). You can consider visiting if you want a reprieve from the crowds.
Is Seopjikoji Coastal Walk worth visiting?
Overall the Seopjikoji Coastal Walk made for a very nice and refreshing post-brunch stroll. But you might consider coming here nearer to the evening time – the views were much better nearing golden hour.
You can choose to either catch the golden hour views here or at Seongsan Ilchulbong Sunrise Peak. Or even better – try your luck at catching the sunset on both ends!
