Other than visiting the cafés and cute little shops around Seongsu-dong, one obvious thing to do was none other than visit Seoul Forest itself.
Although its name suggests otherwise, Seoul Forest is actually a very large park in the city. It is immensely popular with the locals for its cherry blossoms in Spring and Ginkgo Tree Forest in Autumn. This used to be hunting grounds for kings back in the days!
P.S. This park is also the filming location for dramas such as My Demon, and has also been featured in BTS MVs!
Unfortunately I didn’t visit in spring, but I did come in autumn when the gingko trees were in full force!
What to do in Seoul Forest

There are quite a few fancy apartments flanking the park, together with a few famous cafés & restaurants in the vicinity.
Depending on the timing of your trip, you may also be able to see the golden orange autumn foliage! Together with the yellow gingko leaves, it is truly a sight to behold.

Many locals will come here on weekend mornings to take a walk in the park with their families and dogs. It does get a little crowded, but it does give off a nice, cheery vibe rather than feel stifling.

If you’re lucky, you might be able to snap a photo of this reflected footbridge!

Seoul Forest is really quite large, and can take you a couple of hours to walk around the whole area if you’re up for it. The good thing is that the walk is not difficult as the area is not hilly, so you ‘re mostly walking on flat and smooth paths.
I counted ourselves lucky that we came when the leaves were slowly turning golden and red, with some others still looking quite green. The colour gradient of the leaves is very stunning in real life! You’ll definitely enjoy looking up at the beautiful colours while you slowly stroll and enjoy the cool autumn air.

We walked a bit further in to the Deer Corral (Eco Forest) where they actually have deer (!) roaming within Seoul Forest!
You can even feed the deer by getting deer feed from the vending machine nearby. However, do note that it’s not the same as that in Nara Park, where you can get up close with the deer. Here, you’ll be separated by the enclosure’s fence for safety.

On our second trip to Seoul Forest, we went earlier to see if we could join the morning exercise crowd.

We saw quite a few school athletic groups training in Seoul Forest. There were also a few scattered ahjummas and ahjussis using the free exercise machines!

P.S. we tried out the machines and they were actually really quite legit. You could really get a proper strength workout with some of these!

As we went on a weekday morning, it was relatively empty. Though we did spot a few scattered couples around enjoying the view and serenity!

Although I love the hustle and bustle of city life in Seoul, I also appreciate spots like Seoul Forest. Quiet breathing spaces, where you can enjoy nature alone or with your loved ones.
I’m hoping to visit again in spring so I can see the cherry blossoms and tulips, and maybe even have one of those cherry blossom picnics like the locals do!
