Everland: family-friendly amusement park

Other than Lotte World, the other amusement park that many tourists & locals alike would visit is definitely Everland.

The main reason why Lotte World seems to be more popular is mainly due to location. Everland is actually located in Yongin, a little outside of Seoul!

One of Everland’s most famous rides is the T-Express, Korea’s first wooden roller coaster. It’s hard to miss it even from afar, and this often has long queues.

I visited this park twice – once in 2016 and another time in 2018. Both times were in winter, hence the Christmas decor! Do note, however, that outdoor rides like the T-Express are subject to weather conditions. Hence, they may be closed in times of heavy snowfall.

I have to admit it: I’m not the biggest fan of rides at amusement parks because I’m not a thrill-seeker, and have an immense fear of heights.

However, the best part about Everland is that it actually has a zoo that spans an area of 15,000 ㎡ and exhibits 2,000 animals!

Not big fans of rides but still want to make the most out of their time here? You can hop on an amphibious car to tour the largest ecological safari world and see 150 animals. The ride really allows you to get up close with these animals who roam freely within their large compounds – makes you feel like you’re the one in the enclosure instead!

The most exciting part is when the bears stride right up to the car and interact with the staff! It is interesting to see how docile they could be, but it does get a little terrifying to see them coming WAY too close to the windows.

Another main highlight of Everland’s Zootopia is definitely the pair of giant pandas at Panda World. They were given by Chinese president Xi Jinping as a symbol of friendship between Korea and China.

From what I understand there was a baby panda but it returned to China recently. A bit unfortunate that we didn’t manage to see it!

You’d definitely want to spend a whole day in Everland if you want to properly see all the animals in Zootopia as well as have a go at the rides.

We had Chinese foood at a restaurant named China Moon – surprisingly not too overpriced and actually very delicious! It was one of the best meals I’ve had at amusement parks, and sometimes I still think about it haha.

Everland

While I’m not able to share more about the rides as I didn’t have a go at them, I still felt that I had an amazing time here just from touring Zootopia alone.

For a price of about SGD 50, I felt that the tickets were fairly priced. Some travel websites like Klook offer packages that include shuttle bus to & fro Seoul as well, so that makes travelling a lot easier!

Some people have asked me if it’s better to spend the time visiting Everland or Lotte World if you have limited time on your itinerary. My answer has always been Everland! In terms of price, value, and things to do, I still believe Everland offers more for everyone.
